World Cup champion and U.S. Women's National Team star Megan Rapinoe won the prestigious Ballon d'Or on Monday in Paris.

Rapinoe, 34, beat out USA teammates and fellow finalists Alex Morgan, Rose Lavelle and Tobin Heath for the coveted title, along with England's Lucy Bronze, Brazil's Marta and Australia's Sam Kerr. Bronze was the runner-up in the voting and Morgan finished third.

Rapinoe scored six goals during the Americans' march to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup title in France, winning the Golden Boot as the tournament's top scorer and the Golden Ball as its best player.

The women's Ballon d'Or was presented for just the second time by France Football, with Norway's Ada Hegerberg claiming the inaugural honor in 2018.
