Four days after he was placed on release waivers by the San Francisco Giants, third baseman Pablo Sandoval was signed by the Atlanta Braves on Monday, MLB Network reported.

Sandoval was brought aboard on a minor-league deal, with the Braves using Austin Riley as their everyday third baseman. Riley, who is in his second major-league season, is batting just .226 in September with a .321 slugging percentage, one home run and three RBIs.

Braves third basemen have a combined .704 OPS, 24th among the 30 MLB teams.

Sandoval, 34, was batting just .220 with one home run and six RBIs in 33 games with the Giants this season and had a .546 OPS. Over 13 major league seasons, 11 with the Giants, he is a career .279 hitter with 149 home runs and 628 RBIs.

The two-time All-Star won three World Series titles with the Giants: 2010, 2012 and 2014.
