Tiffany Hayes scored 18 points as the host Atlanta Dream overcame 20 turnovers and recorded a 78-75 victory over the slumping Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.
Hayes shot 6 of 13 and scored 11 of her points in the opening quarter when Atlanta opened a 14-point lead.
Elizabeth Williams totaled a season-high 17 points and added nine rebounds after being held to four points Sunday in Phoenix.
Hayes and Williams helped the Dream improve to 4-10, win for the second time in three games following a four-game losing streak and avenge two earlier losses to Connecticut.
Renee Montgomery contributed 12 points for the Dream, who shot 41.9 percent. Reserve Alex Bentley added 11, including a key 3-pointer down the stretch.
Courtney Williams scored all of her 13 points after halftime to lead the Sun (9-6), who are on their first five-game losing streak since May 21-June 5, 2016. Jasmine Thomas and Bria Holmes added 12 apiece but leading scorer Jonquel Jones was held to 11 on 2 of 12 shooting as the Sun shot 38.2 percent.
Connecticut took its first lead at 47-45 on two free throws by Jones with 7:24 left in the third. Neither team led by more than three points for the rest of the period and the teams headed into the fourth tied at 56-56 after Hayes' buzzer-beating 3-point attempt was short.
Atlanta used a 10-0 run to take a 67-61 lead on two free throws by Williams with 4:27 left and held a 72-67 lead when Bentley hit an uncontested 3-pointer from the top of the key with 2:01 remaining. After Bentley's 3-pointer the Sun continued to be within striking distance and were within 76-75 on a 3-pointer by Williams with 10.6 seconds left.
Bentley hit two free throws with 9.9 seconds left and the game ended when Williams' 3-point attempt clanked off the front of the rim at the buzzer.
