Former Butts County commissioner and Jackson City Council member Mitchell McEwen has been appointed by Gov. Brian Kemp to a position on a state licensing board.
Kemp announced McEwen’s appointment Friday to the Georgia State Construction Industry Licensing Board. The board “licenses and regulates contractors through the Division of Conditioned Air Contractors, Division of Electrical Contractors, Division of Low Voltage Contractors, Division of Master and Journeyman Plumbers and Division of Utility Contractors,” Kemp’s office said.
McEwen is president of Regional Waste in Jackson. He served one term on the Butts County Board of Commissioners — from 2007-10 — and held a seat on the Jackson City Council from 2011 to 2013. He was elected uncontested to the District 4 council seat but resigned before the end of his term in an unsuccessful bid for mayor.
He has also previously served on the Butts County, et al. Water and Sewer Authority board.
