Amateur radio meeting, Jan. 7

The Amateur Radio Club of Butts County will host its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Exchange Club of Jackson building, at 174 Fairgrounds St., Jackson. Anyone with an interest in amateur radio is invited to attend.

HOSA pancake breakfast, Jan. 19

The Jackson High School chapter of HOSA Future Health Professionals will host a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 19 at Jackson High School, 717 Harkness St., to raise money for student competitions. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Proceeds from a silent auction will be donated to the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

Ham cram, Jan. 19

The Amateur Radio Club of Butts County will hold an all-day amateur radio license “ham cram” beginning at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in the training room at Butts County Fire Station No. 7, at 144 Colwell Road, Jackson. An amateur radio license testing session will follow at 4 p.m. The ham cram is free, with all study materials provided, but there is a $15 fee for the testing session. A photo ID is required.

Health screenings, Jan. 24

Atlanta Vascular Associates will be sponsoring health screenings for area residents Jan. 24 at Macedonia Baptist Church, 151 Macedonia Church Road, Jackson. Screenings can check for plaque buildup, cholesterol, diabetes risk and other health factors. Screenings will be performed by Life Line Screenings of America, with packages starting at $149.
