Mother of God

St. Mary, Mother of God Catholic Church, at 359 Old Griffin Road, Jackson, has Saturday mass at 5 p.m., and Sunday mass at 9 a.m. Religious education is on Sundays from 10:20 to 11:20 a.m. On Wednesdays, the church will be having a youth event for middle and high school students after the 6:30 p.m. mass. Soup and salad will follow the 6:30 p.m. mass each Wednesday during Lent.

On April 17, Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be at 3 p.m., Rosary at 3:20 p.m., a movie 5:30 p.m., Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m. and mass at 7 p.m.

On Holy Thursday, April 18, Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be at 3 p.m., Rosary at 3:20 p.m., Stations of the Cross at 6:30 p.m., Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. and Holy Hour of Reparation at 8 p.m.

On Good Friday, April 19, the Last Seven Words of Jesus will be at noon, Stations of the Cross at 3 p.m., Divine Mercy Chaplet at 3:30 p.m., Rosary at 4 p.m. and Passion of the Lord at 7 p.m.

On Holy Saturday, April 20, Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be at 3 p.m., Rosary at 3:20 p.m. and an Easter Vigil Mass at 8:30 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, April 21, Rosary will be at 8:30 a.m., mass at 9 a.m., an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m., mass at 11 a.m. and Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3 p.m.

Eucharistic Adoration is Fridays from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m., but on first Fridays from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Reconciliation is on the second and fourth Saturdays from 4 to 4:45 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Anointing of the sick is the second weekend of the month following masses.

Jackson UMC

Jackson United Methodist Church, at 409 E. Third St., hosts Sunday worship at 8:30 a.m., 8:45 a.m. and 11 a.m.

On April 18, the church will host a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. On April 19, the church will host a Good Friday Tenebrae service at 6:30 p.m.

Easter Sunday services will be April 21, with a “SONrise” service with special music from a local bagpiper at 7 a.m. at Dauset Trails Nature Center’s Weaver Chapel.

Regular services will be held at 8:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall and at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.

Attendees are invited to bring fresh flowers for the cross on the church grounds.

Jackson UMC hosts a grief counseling support group with the Rev. Ben Wright at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the education building. There is no fee charged for attending the group. Confidentiality is demanded. Anyone with a death in the family, going through a divorce, loss of a job or any other loss is welcome.

Macedonia Baptist

Macedonia Baptist Church, at 151 Macedonia Church Road, Jackson, will host a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. April 18.

The church will host an Easter egg hunt from 10 to 11:30 a.m. April 20 on the soccer field.

The Easter worship service will be at 10:30 a.m. April 21.

Macedonia Baptist hosts Bible study for all ages each Sunday at 9 a.m. followed by a worship service at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday night supper is from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Reservations are appreciated. Awana for children, LINK for youth, adult choir practice and adult Bible study are from 6:45 to 8 p.m.

Powerhouse Apostolic Church of Promise, at 3659 Brownlee Road, Forsyth, will host appreciation services for its pastor, Bishop Robert H. Jackson, and First Lady Josephine Jackson at 7:30 p.m. April 18, at 8 p.m. April 25, at 7:30 p.m. April 26, at 2:30 p.m. April 27 and at 4 p.m. April 28.

Mt. Pleasant Baptist

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, at 557 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Jackson, will celebrate the anniversary of its male chorus at 6 p.m. April 20. Other male choruses, choirs and soloists are asked to render an A-and-B selection.

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church will hold its annual spring revival at 7 p.m. April 24-26. The Rev. Eddie Collier of County Line Baptist Church will be the guest speaker.

Sardis Baptist

Sardis Baptist Church, at 2120 Keys Ferry Road, McDonough, will host an Easter egg hunt at noon April 20. The hunt will follow a meal.

Liberty Baptist

Liberty Baptist Church, at 3043 High Falls Road, Jackson, will host an Easter egg hunt and cookout at 1 p.m. April 20. The church will host a sunrise service at 7 a.m. April 21 followed by breakfast.

The church will host a spring revival at 7 p.m. April 24-26 with the Rev. Alan Burns. There will be singing each night. Homecoming will be at 11 a.m. April 28 with the New Life Singers. There will be dinner after the service.

Macedonia Missionary

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, at 144 Hope McClure Road, Jackson, will hold its Easter program during the morning service at 10 a.m. April 21.



Powerhouse Apostolic Church of Promise, at 3659 Brownlee Road, Forsyth, will celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, with services at 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. April 21.

Ole Country

The Ole Country Church, at 2649 Ga. Highway 155 N., McDonough, will host Jeff and Sherri Easter at 7 p.m. April 25. Doors will open at 6 p.m. There is no cover charge, but a love offering will be accepted.

Lighthouse Baptist
