Maddox graduates from Middle Georgia State University

Rachel Grace Maddox, daughter of Lorraine and Cary Maddox of Jackson, graduated May 8 from Middle Georgia State University.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with an honors designation, summa cum laude. She is a president’s list scholar and Experiential Learning graduate. The English department presented her with the first English Distinguished Scholar Award.

Rachel also earned the English department’s Outstanding Student Award in her junior year. She earned a 4.0 grade-point average throughout her high school and college careers. She was the valedictorian of her 2014 graduating class at the Forest Park Street School.

During her college years, Rachel worked at United Bank, the college library, was the honors program student coordinator, and completed internships at Mercer University Press and NewTown Macon. She also volunteered at the campus writing center, tutored in the Spanish lab, was editor-in-chief of the university literary publication, and served as president of the university chapter of the International English Honor Society and the campus English Studies Organization.

Rachel’s research has been published in journals, presented at conferences and won several awards.

She will continue her education at Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in the fall.
