NOTICE OF LOCATION AND DESIGN APPROVAL P. I. 0014159 BUTTS COUNTY Notice is hereby given in compliance with Georgia Code 22-2-109 and 32-3-5 that the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the Location and Design of this project. The date of location and design approval is: June 8, 2020 This project proposes to convert the intersection of State Route 16 (SR 16) and County Road 301 (Higgins Road) to a single lane roundabout. The location of the intersection is approximately 4.0 miles east of the City of Jackson, Butts County, Georgia. The project length is estimated to be 0.8 miles. The project falls within Land District 1 in Butts County, GA. The project will expand the footprint of the existing 4-way stop intersection to a single lane roundabout with 12 to 14-foot lane widths on SR 16 and 10 to 16-foot lane widths on CR 301/Higgins Road. 6.5-foot paved shoulders will add bike accommodations to all four approaches to the intersection. Speed will be limited to 25 mph through the roundabout. NOTE: Ordinarily the maps or plats would be available for public review at our area office.
