Truck training under way in Butts County

College officials decided to move Southern Crescent Tech’s commercial driver’s license program from its Griffin campus to Butts County for a number of reasons, according to Southern Crescent Technical College President Randall Peters.

Angie Clark, a third-grade teacher at Stark Elementary, said Investigator Al Duke, Col. Larry Mooney, Sgt. Eric Shropshire, Sgt. Jeff Nix and Sgt. Adam Marlowe were all involved in the program, and came to the school periodically throughout the year.

Two different hand bell ensembles from Jackson High School also showed off their talent, with Ensemble A performing the “William Tell Overture,” “Jasmine Flower,” “Turkish Rondo” and the “Can-can.”

Fundraiser helps outstanding HOSA students

Participants in the fundraiser were able to buy raffle tickets for $1 each, for a chance to win a variety of prizes including a golf bag, a Whirlpool garbage disposal, gift certificates, carrying cases and coolers.
