Volunteers plant Butts County Community Garden
On the pleasant Saturday morning of April 9, plants and seeds were placed in the soil of the Butts County Community Garden, in anticipation of bountiful harvests this summer.
Mimosa Garden Club installs new officers
On March 10, the Mimosa Garden Club met at the Daughtry Foundation Building in Jackson for its regular meeting. Myra Potteiger, the newly elected president of the club, conducted the meeting, and the officers for the new year were installed.
Azalea Garden Club installs new officers
The Azalea Garden Club met on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Butts County Exchange Club Building for its regularly scheduled meeting. Following the business session, outgoing officers were called to come forward and accept the club's appreciation for their service for the past two years of club leadership.
Master Gardeners donate sugar maple
Arbor Day, which recognizes the importance of trees to the well-being of America and its human inhabitants, will be celebrated across the United States over the next few weeks.
Butts County Community Garden growing strong
The Butts County Community Garden, which first took root last spring, is continuing to grow. A group of 4-H'ers led by Butts County Extension Agent Jennie Brown and assistant, Bonnie McLeroy, spent the Friday morning before the Fourth of July holiday weeding and helping with other garden chores.
