Nearly 200 Jackson High School seniors will be taking part in graduation exercises tonight at Red Devil Hill.
The commencement ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., on the football field, though the graduates will be taking part in several pre-ceremony activities.
According to the Jackson High School web site, graduates are to gather in the high school’s gym, across Franklin Street, in their caps and gowns at 6 p.m. A class picture will be taken at 6:15 p.m.
Grads will leave the gym at 6:45 p.m., and begin the processional onto the field at 6:50 p.m.
Traffic around Franklin and College streets in downtown Jackson is expected to be congested as the event gets under way.
The weather.com forecast for today calls for temperatures around 75 degrees at the start of the ceremony, and only a 10 percent chance of rain. Jackson High Principal Jay Homan said in an e-mail the ceremonies will continue even under light-rain conditions, but a storm would force officials to postpone the ceremony until Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
