Carson Browning, from the landscaping company ITM, recently spoke to members of the Azalea Garden Club.
The Azalea Garden Club met on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Exchange Club fairgrounds.
Hostesses Betty Dennard and Velata LaPrade served refreshments with winter-themed table decorations.
President Dianne Dooley introduced the speaker, Carson Browning, from ITM, a professional company that specializes in landscapes, hardscapes, and landscape maintenance. His talk on “Preparing Your Garden for Spring” inspired members to get outside early and work in their yards. He discussed pruning, when and what can be pruned, edging flower beds, mulch, weed control, and preparing areas for planting.
Next month the theme is herbs. Members are also asked to bring an arrangement with the theme “You’ve Got to Have Heart.”
The Great Backyard Bird Count sponsored by Cornell University runs Feb. 17 to Feb. 21. Members were reminded to bring tabs for Ronald McDonald House.
Future programs include “Birds and Butterflies,” “Plants of the Bible,” and a garden tour. Visitors are welcome.
The Azalea Garden Club meets every third Tuesday at the Exchange Club at 7 p.m. For more information, call (770) 775-3512.
