Church News: Celebration of Dance at Zion Missionary

Joshua’s Place

Joshua’s Place will hold a girls’ night out preview for the March Fearless Women’s Conference on Sept. 23, at 7 p.m.

The church holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m., and 6 p.m. Its mission is to reach, restore, reconcile and reign. Prayer is held every weekday morning from 6 to 8 a.m., and Friday evenings at 7 p.m.

Joshua’s Place also offers adult Bible study, Solid Rock Kids and Extreme Youth services on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., The New Beginnings Food Bank Ministry every Thursday at 6:30 p.m., and The Crushing young adults service every Thursday at 7 p.m. Childcare is provided for all services.

Zion Missionary

The Awesome Angels dance ministry of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, at 709 South Mulberry Street, Jackson, will present its second Celebration of Dance on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. Spiritual dances, mime acts, food and more activities are planned. Stewart Baptist

Stewart Baptist Church, at 158 Stewart Church Road in Covington, will host a Cruise In car show on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m., to 5 p.m. Entry is free and donations are welcome. Other events include a craft and bake sale, moonwalk, games, gospel singing and face painting.

Israel Temple

The Israel Temple CME Church’s 2011 Gospel Fest Celebration will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m., featuring the Bold Springs CME Church Choir, the Bethlehem Baptist Church Male Chorus of Locust Grove, Bethel Grove Mass Choir of Griffin, the Barlow family and others. Liberty Baptist

Liberty Baptist Church, at 3043 High Falls Road in Jackson, is inviting the community to worship on Sept. 25 and enjoy its “Old Fashion Day (Founder’s Day) Celebration.” The event will feature outfits from the past, a good sermon, lunch and singing by the New Horizons. Lizzie Berry

First Baptist

The Old Paths will perform Sunday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Jackson. Chief Cornerstone

Chief Cornerstone Ministries, at 248 Ga. Highway 87 in Flovilla, will host Jeff Thompson on Sept. 25. Thompson had a near-death experience a few years ago, following complications from surgery and will describe his experiences. Rising Star

The annual Mother Board Ministry Conference will be held Oct. 22 at the Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, along with three other host churches, Mt. Pleasant Baptist, Oak Grove Baptist, and Towaliga County Line Baptist. All Mother Board Ministries are invited to come and share in this powerful move of God. Victory Tabernacle

Burning Bush

The Burning Bush Youth and Family Intervention Center on Brookwood Avenue has a time of devotion and fellowship for women on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Women come together and confidentially share and interact with other women about life issues and God’s direction. Exceedingly Grateful

Exceedingly Grateful Ministries, Inc., had its first worship service, Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Butts County Recreational Department. The church is a new ministry and is soliciting help from the community. The church is in need of musicals, choir members, stewards, stewardesses, members, and friends. Jackson Presbyterian

The Rev. Becky Baker’s August-September sermon series at Jackson Presbyterian Church is “Growing in Prayer.” Sunday services include Sunday school beginning at 9:45 a.m., and church service at 11 a.m.

From 6 to 8 p.m., every Tuesday night, the church hosts dinner (adult price is $3, children free) and family Bible studies. There is something for all ages. The church is in the midst of an eight-week video series, “Max on Life” with Max Lucado, an adult Bible study. Youth Chill and Children’s Sprouts will continue their ongoing Bible studies.
